Your Stress Impact Score

Your Stress Impact Score is 52. The body is staying switched on and not dropping back to rest.

Most of the answers point to one thing: the body stays switched on. Sleep is broken, the mind keeps running at night, and downtime is the first thing to go. That is what lifts the number, and it is one of the most workable.

Elevated range. The body is carrying more pressure than it is clearing.
Your reading at a glance
Bottom line
The number is lifted mostly by a body that stays switched on: broken sleep, a mind that keeps running at night, and almost no downtime that actually rests. All of it is workable, and the sooner it starts, the faster the number comes down.

01 · What your score means

Your score of 52, read in plain words.

A score in this range means pressure is building on more than one front and starting to wear the body down. Lower is calmer, so the goal is simple: bring the number down over the next few months.

The three answers that did the most to lift it:

Across a normal week, how would you describe your sleep
You answered"Broken, and I lie awake with my mind going"
In the evening, switching your mind off is
You answered"Almost impossible, my thoughts keep going"
In a normal week, how much real downtime do you get
You answered"Not much, it is the first thing to go"

This reading is built only from fourteen self-reported answers. It is a starting point, not a medical diagnosis, and it does not replace a provider.

Three of the answers line up into one pattern.

Sleep is broken, the mind will not quiet at night, switching off is almost impossible, and the downtime that would reset all of it is the first thing to get cut. These feed each other: when the body stays switched on, the stress hormones that should fall at night stay up, so sleep goes light, and a short night leaves the body on edge the next day. Round it goes.

None of this is unusual when life is full, and none of it is broken. A body that used to wind down on its own is just not dropping back to rest. Think of a car idling too high: it keeps revving in the driveway, burning fuel, never settling. What is missing is the drop back to idle.

Signs the system downshifts

  • Falling asleep is easy, and the night holds
  • The mind quiets within a few minutes of lying down
  • Energy feels calm rather than jittery
  • A busy day settles by the evening

Signs it stays switched on

  • Broken sleep, or lying awake with the mind going
  • Tired through the day, yet wired at night
  • Switching off is hard even when there is time
  • Downtime is the first thing that gets cut
02 · Three free things to bring it down
At home · free · start this week

Three changes you can start this Monday.

These come first because they are free. Each one is matched to what is lifting the score: broken sleep, a mind that will not quiet, and downtime that never happens. They are the first step, not the whole answer.

01

Set a hard wind-down time, one hour before bed.

Same time each night. Dim the lights, put the phone down, do something slow. It gives the body the signal it is missing: the day is over, safe to downshift. Give it ten days.
For broken sleep and a racing mind
02

Two minutes of slow breathing, twice a day.

Breathe in for four counts, out for six. A longer exhale is the fastest way to switch on the calm side of the nervous system. Once mid-afternoon and once before bed trains the body to settle.
For a mind that will not switch off
03

Get daylight outside within an hour of waking.

Ten minutes is plenty. Morning light sets the body's daily clock, so the stress-hormone rhythm rises in the morning and falls at night, the way it should. It is the cheapest lever you have on sleep and steady energy.
For sleep and steady daytime energy

Two to three weeks tells you a lot. The check below shows whether they did their job, or whether a closer look is what brings the number down.

After two weeks of doing these consistently

Signs the changes are working

  • Falling asleep is faster, and there is less waking in the night
  • The mind is quieter at bedtime
  • Energy feels steadier and less jittery
  • Evenings are calmer, and easier to switch off

Signs the changes are not enough

  • Sleep is still broken despite the new routine
  • The mind keeps running at bedtime
  • Still wired at night, still tired by day
  • Two weeks in, nothing has really shifted

If the left column is true, the free steps are doing real work and are worth keeping. If the right column is true, something underneath needs testing to settle it. That is what the first consultation is for.

03 · A story like yours

How someone with a score of 52 brought it down.

The starting point. A man in his early fifties in Charlotte, NC came in with almost the same reading: a full life, holding it together, but sleeping badly, wired at night, and with no downtime left in the week.

First, the free steps. He started with the three changes in section 02. Within two weeks he was falling asleep faster and waking less.

Then, what the steps could not reach. The wired-at-night feeling did not fully lift, so he came in for a first consultation. Two things showed up that a standard checkup had missed: his daily stress-hormone rhythm was still running high into the evening, and his thyroid markers had drifted.

The plan that followed. The provider kept the free steps, worked on the stress-hormone rhythm and the thyroid markers, and paired him with a health coach for sleep and the way he ate on busy weeks. Over the next few months his sleep deepened, the wired feeling settled, and his number came down out of the elevated range.

The free steps did real work on their own. The testing showed the part nobody can see by feel.

How our clinic can help you.

Companion Health is a concierge practice that is physician-led and root-cause first. The work starts by seeing what is keeping the body switched on, then a provider decides what, if anything, fits. None of it starts from a quiz.

The one workup that reads what is keeping the body switched on
Advanced diagnostic testing, read by a provider

Companion Health runs a comprehensive baseline blood panel alongside saliva hormone testing, which is the way they read the daily stress-hormone rhythm rather than a single point in time. Together those map the rhythm across the day, the thyroid markers, and the rest of the baseline, and a provider turns them into one plan.

For sleep & recovery
Saliva hormone testing and the baseline panel

The evening end of the daily stress-hormone rhythm, read from saliva, alongside the thyroid markers in the baseline panel (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4). Those are the regulators that decide whether a night restores anything.

Why it fits this resultBroken sleep with the mind still going is exactly what these markers speak to, and a standard annual check leaves most of them out.
For a mind that will not switch off
The full-day stress-hormone rhythm

The SHAPE of the stress-hormone rhythm across a whole day, which is why Companion Health reads it from saliva rather than from one blood draw: a single reading cannot show a curve.

Why it fits this resultA mind that keeps running at night traces back to the shape of that curve, not to any one number on it.
For downtime that never happens
Health coaching, paired with every membership

A health coach, paired with every client alongside the provider, working on the part no lab reads: sleep habits, what the week actually looks like, and how eating goes when it gets busy.

Why it fits this resultDowntime being the first thing cut is a scheduling problem before it is a biology one, and it is the piece that holds the other two in place.
None of these start from a quiz. The next step is the first consultation: 90-plus minutes with one of our providers. They read the answers, run only the tests that make sense, and decide what, if anything, fits. Plenty of people leave with just the free plan and come back later.
A note from your physician

Brian, this is one of the more workable results we see. Nothing here is broken. The body is simply staying switched on and not dropping back to rest, and a number like this can be brought down. Start with the three changes above this week. To find out exactly what is keeping it switched on, that is what the first consultation is for. No pressure either way.

"No two people are the same, and we don’t think your healthcare should be either."
